Trust the news

Expert forecast that house prices may fall 30% in the next two years. Do they mean that they will fall, they should fall, or maybe only that they might fall?

I also wonder if these are the same experts that only nine month ago, when I moved to London, tried to talk me out of renting a house, as they claimed that: “house prices are sure to rise for at least eighteen months.”

We are lucky to live in a society in which we can vocally express nearly any piece of nonsense on our mind. I just wonder how much do you get paid as an expert to do the same thing? Because the nonsense on experts’ mind (as expressed by the media) don’t seem to be any better than mine. Unfairly no one pays me for my useless ideas.

Just like tarot astrology. It never seem to work and yet everyone believes

Well the tarot works when I read them - but then, I'm not an expert! ;)

It says I'm going to have a great day, with pork sausages for tea! ;)

But are either of us experts?

And has anyone asked the port what it thinks? ;)

If not your useless ideas, what do they pay you for then?

Modal verbs like 'might' and 'should' are great because they allow you to make statements that sound convincing without committing you to anything.
People screen out the uncertainty and hear whatever they want to hear.
Have you been stealing my ideas again?

yours and others. I make sure that I never have any of my own
